Government Employees Salary & Allowance Update — September 2026

Karnataka Government Employees

• Karnataka has revised Dearness Allowance (DA) from 38.75% to 42.50% of basic pay, effective 1 January 2024, according to the Karnataka Finance Department’s latest listed order.
• A separate revision under the 2024 Revised State Pay Scales increased another applicable allowance rate from 14.25% to 15.75%, effective from 1 January 2026.

Central Government Employees

• The 8th Central Pay Commission has been formally constituted and is examining revisions to salary, allowances and pensions.
• A new DA revision is currently being discussed for central government employees, with reports indicating that an announcement could come in September 2026. This is not yet a confirmed final rate, so it should not be posted as an approved hike.
• The 8th Pay Commission’s final fitment factor and revised salary structure have not yet been officially finalized.
